"Overlapping Generation" is a "Spiritual Generation" - a letter to the governing body
by jwleaks in11 march 2017. dear governing body of jehovah's witnesses,.
could you please introduce the phrase "spiritual generation" to replace the phrase "overlapping generation".
it would save us all a lot of confusion.. an online search of your publications dating back to 2000 showed that this term has never been used.. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/s/r1/lp-e?q="spiritual+generation"&p=par.

I was wondering if the word overlapping was a word available when Jesus said "this generation". I looked it up and, yes, it was a term used at least once in the Bible.
Then a champion came out from the camps of the Phi·lis'tines; his name was Go·li'ath, from Gath, and his height was six cubits and a span. He had a helmet of copper on his head, and he was wearing a coat of mail of overlapping scales. 1 Samuel 17:4, 5 nwt
Ah, if overlapping had not been a Bible term it would have been a perfect alibi for the current GB. "Hey, Jesus would have used the term but it wasn't available at the time."
But, sadly for them, that's not to be. It's right there in 1 Samuel.
Here's are two other tips, however, for the Faithful Slave, aka Governing Body.
1. Insert the word overlapping into Jesus' expression in the latest NWT of your Bible. Thus, Jesus would actually be saying "this overlapping generation".I know, you'd probably lose a bunch of your present faithfuls for such a glaring, egregious, and dishonest modification of the Bible. But remember what you learned about glaring and egregious?
Remember 1975?
Remember Watchtower’s 53 Date Failures -- Prophetic Declarations Quietly Abandoned?
Remember The 26 Prophetic Failures of Watchtower’s Most Heralded Date, 1914?
Yes, you remember and we apostates remember -- but the present flock in general, with their short attention span coupled with your masterful spin? They don't remember.
And the same thing would happen with that silly, egregious insertion of overlapping -- the flock would forget that too.
2. Tell the flock that Jesus actually intended to use the term overlapping -- but he simply forgot. I know, that'd be a real hard spin but you've sold ludicrous things before. Go ahead, you'll never know unless you give them a try.
You're welcome.Len -

Watchtower’s 53 Date Failures -- Prophetic Declarations Quietly Abandoned
by FatFreek 2005 inbelow is a paste of the front of my recent essay.
ask most jws today and they'll tell you that, yes, watchtower has made a few mistakes -- that there are a couple date failures -- 1925 -- and maybe another one they can't even remember.. lest they forget, the following should jog their collective memories as to how egregious watchtower has been in their obsession with date predictions (oh, but we don't make predictions, they may tell you) over the 138 years of watchtower history.. len miller.

Our friend over in the technical section gave me a tip that appears to make those hyperlinks work. I've since added an alert directly above that table of 53 dates. It reads something like this:
The following dates are hyperlinked to their referenced quotations. This provides very quick and convenient navigation to and from dates of interest. However, the links only work if this file has been downloaded to your machine. To do that (if you're using the Chrome browser), look for the download icon. Then open that file with your machine's default PDF reader.

Hey, NotSureWhereToGo,
Great tip and we're all very gratefu to youl. Based on that, I've since added an alert above the table of hyperlinks. It reads something like this:

See all those dates in that table on page 3? Well, they are all hyperlinked to the appropriate bookmark later in the doc, supposedly to take you directly to the information on that specific date. Don't work.
Then, to take you back to the top, that text between tables, "Back to Top" -- those, too, are supposed to be hyperlinks that quickly take you back to that date table. Doesn't work either.
Any of you tech gurus out there who use LibreOffice Writer or Open Office Writer, and who may have some tips to make this work, please yell back.

Apology up front.

I hear what you say, Desirous, and I've heard that before. Can you source that?
There are more than 1,500 citations and quotations from the older "Zion's Watch Tower" within its modern literature since 1950. Watchtower has no qualms about using the early literature when it reinforces what it wishes to present to its readers.
Since Watchtower uses them, what's good for goose is good for the gander.
I therefore have no problem using them.
